Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan recently opened up about his views on marriage during an insightful conversation on Rhea Chakraborty’s podcast, Chapter 2. The actor, who has been married twice, shared his candid thoughts on the institution of marriage and whether he sees himself getting married again.
Aamir, who shares a close bond with his ex-wives Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao, described marriage as “a canvas” that depends on the partners’ ability to paint it together. When asked by Rhea about his stance on marriage and whether she should consider getting married, Aamir humorously replied, “I have had two unsuccessful marriages, so don’t ask for marriage advice from me.” He continued, “I don’t like living alone, I need a partner. I am not a loner, I like companionship. I am very close to both my ex-wives Reena and Kiran; we are like one family. Life is unpredictable, so how can we trust it? So, marriages working depends from person to person.”
When probed further about his readiness to marry again, the 59-year-old actor-producer expressed his doubts. “I’m 59 now, I don’t think I would be able to marry again. Mushkil lag raha hai mujhe, is waqt itne rishtey hai meri zindagi mai. I have connected to my family again, I have kids, and my brother and sisters are there.”
Aamir’s journey through marriage has been a significant part of his life. He first tied the knot with Reena Dutta in 1986, and the couple has two children, Ira and Junaid. After their divorce in 2002, Aamir married filmmaker Kiran Rao, with whom he has a son, Azad, born through surrogacy. Despite their separation in 2021, Aamir and Kiran have maintained a professional relationship and continue to collaborate on films. Their most recent project together was the 2024 sleeper hit Laapataa Ladies, directed by Kiran and produced by Aamir.
Currently, Aamir is engrossed in the post-production of his upcoming feature film, Sitaare Zameen Par, which has fans eagerly anticipating its release.
