Geethanjali Movie Review | Impressive Comedy Disappointing Horror
[box type="shadow" ]Film: Geethanjali Cast : Anjali, Brahmanandam, Srinivasa Reddy and Others. Music : Praveen Lakkaraju Produced by : MVV Satyanarayana Directed by : Raaja Kiran Duration : 145 Minutes Censor certificate : A[/box]
Srinivas (Srinivas Reddy) is the aspiring film director who lands in Hyderabad city in search of producers who can fund for his script and in the process he takes an apartment with his friend and starts developing his script and other friends also joins him in the apartment and one fine day Srinivas discovers Anjali (Anjali) who is a late night visitor to their apartment in order to search her friends. Both Srinivas and Anjali become good friends but all of a sudden, Srinivas' friends discovers a surprising truth about Anjali existence and comes to know that the apartment they are living in is a haunted one.
Why is the apartment haunted?
What happened there?
Who is Anjali?
The answers for these questions will completely cook up the entire story of Geethanjali.
Its a team effort and the performances in the film has saved it a lot. The most important thing is Anjali and Sriivas Reddy characterisations and both have came out very well. Srinivas reddy played a major lead role for the first time and he has performed very well in this film. He has used his experience in elevating the emotions of his character. Coming to Anjali, she looks beautiful and she is capable of performing these kind of roles in a balanced way and she could have done a bit better and her role is a bit disappointing but her comedy timing and her scenes in which she scares everyone are at their best! The rest of the cast Rajesh, Shakalaka Shankar. Sapthagiri and others did a good job. Rao Ramesh role is also good and Saithan raj character essayed by Brahmanandam is wasted. The hype did not got carried well. Dil Raju has a cameo too!
The cinematography is handled by Sri Sai ram and his work in the film is appreciable but he could have done a finer job to connect the viewers with his outstanding work.
Editor is Upendra and the editing is okay and the film runs with slow pace that tests the audience and for that reason, the editor could have trimmed the film at least for ten minutes to keep the watching experience pleasant.
The music of this film is not good. The tunes fail to impress us and Praveen lakkaraju did his best but failed to impress the listeners. Even the Back Ground Score which is a asset for these kind of films failed to impress!
Story & Screenplay & Dialogues & Direction :
Geethanjali is written by Kona Venkat and the film is just based on a single line and the entire make up is done surrounding that. The film is a comedy cum horror flick and Kona Venkat is successful in dealing with that and today he is the reason for a good writing. Dialogues are good and he did a clever job with twists. He could have concentrated more on screenplay!
Raaja Kiran is the director of the film and he is successful in bringing out some best performances from his actors and he could do better with Kona's script.
Geethanjali From Reviewer View :
Geethanjali is a good subject that completely entertains the movie lovers but the film gets flat at time and starts testing the patience of the viewers. The film has some surprising elements but are not planned perfectly which kills the horrifying watching experience of the film. Of all the film has some good performances and some good sequences that have came out well. The film tries to explain a new kind of story to the audiences. The makers could have designed it well to set a new trend.
First half : Good
Second Half : Boring
Verdict : Geethanjali is one film that makes you feel that it could have made well than this after watching and its a one time watch!!
Rating : 2.5/5
