Karthikeya Movie Review | Impressive Suspense Thriller
Film : Karthikeya Cast : Nikhil, Swathi, Thanikella Bharani, Rao Ramesh, Kishore, Thulasi and others. Music : Sekhar Chandra Produced by : Venkat Srinivas Directed by : Chandoo Mondeti Censor Certificate : U/A Duration : 124 minutes
Story : The story is very simple and the lead role Karthik(Nikhil), a young medico who is in his final year is always a typical person who wanted to chase the mysteries and questions everything. One fine day, he will go to a village called Subrahmanyapuram on a medical camp and realizes that a mystery is revolving around the local Subrahmanya Swamy temple. He takes the help of Thanikella Bharani who plays the role of a priest to chase and solve the mystery.
What is his love story with Swathi?
Did he solve the mystery?
What consequences he faced in between?
The answers for above questions form the rest of the story.
Performances: Nikhil got a good role in his career after Swamy Ra Ra and he played it with a lot of ease and he justified the intensive role he has given to play. He needs to improve more in performance.
Swathi is beautiful as usual and she is the perfect match for Nikhil in the film. This is her second film with Nikhil and she did very well in her role.
Thanikella Bharani plays the role of a priest and he impresses us with his performance.
The rest of the cast makes us feel their presence.
Plus Points: Performances Cinematography Music
Minus Points: Slow Narration Screenplay
Cinematography: The cinematography is handled by Karthik Ghattamaneni. He is one of the young cinematographers in the film industry. He already proved with his debut film Prema Ishq Kaadal and now proved his mettle with Karthikeya. Karthikeya visuals were shown in a grand way with Karthik lens. The cinematography of the film is good.
Editing: K.Srinivas is the editor for this film. The editing is good. The story runs on a slow paced narration so we may get an idea of chopping few scenes to fasten the run time. The editor could have concentrated well on editing.
Music: The music is composed by Sekhar Chandra. The music of the film that was released many days ago impressed and the songs are more effective when watched on the screen. The background score of the film is also impressive.
Story & Screenplay & Dialogues & Direction: The story of Kartikeya is very unique. It’s a new story with proper execution. The debutant Chandoo Mondeti left a positive impression with his own style of approach and treatment. The main asset of the film is a limited budget and the director has cleverly handled this low budget and finally succeeded in maintaining the flow.
The new age story of the film is the soul and the entire team effort impresses one and all. The thrilling aspects of the film are interesting. Karthikeya is interesting film and it is impressively dealt by the director. The dialogues are natural as well as interesting. There are many meaningful and thoughtful dialogues in the film like “Prapamchamlo prathi PRASHNAKI samadhanam untundhi samadhanam lekapothe samasya PRASHNADI kadhu prayathnanidi.”
Chandoo Mndeti direction is impressive. But the film fails in narration. Its too slow and the slow narration affects the mood of audience.
Karthikeya From Reviewer View:
This Karthikeya starring Nikhil and Swathi is a different film yet interesting attempt. The film is touted to be a thriller and it is a new age story that deals with God vs Science. Though we may get an impression of hearing these kind of stories or witnessing these kinds of subjects, the director cleverly dealt it in limited budget. And the way of approach, Chandoo Mondeti has shown towards the making reveals the efforts put in by his team and it saved the film from being called a routine film. Nikhil has improved but this is completely insufficient for him to survive as a good actor in the film industry. He is capable of achieving that and let us hope that he does it in his future movies.
Verdict: Karthikeya is a different and interesting film. This is a good film which can be given a watch without any hesitation. Go Grab Your Tickets!
