Actor Vikram’s and Pa Ranjith’s ambitious project, Thangalaan, is going steady at the box office.
The film is inching toward the Rs 42 crore mark in India.
Directed by Pa Ranjith, this period drama also stars Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Daniel Caltagirone, Pasupathy, Hari Krishnan in key roles.
Thangalaan saw an opening of Rs 13 crore net on its first day on August 15. After the first day, the film saw a dip in numbers.

Thangalaan’s collections on its first weekend, Saturday and Sunday were Rs 5.6 and Rs 5.7 crore respectively.
On Monday the film earned Rs 2 crore net. On Tuesday it has earned Rs 1.62 crore net. On Wednesday it earned Rs 1.46 crore net. On day 8, it earned Rs 1.27 crore. On day 9, Friday, the film earned 0.92 crore net. On its second weekend the film earned Rs 1.25 net and Rs 1.2 crore net respectively.
The film had an occupancy of 31 percent in Tamil and 19 percent in Telugu.
In India, Thangalaan has earned Rs 42.65 crore net at the end of 11 days.

Director Pa Ranjith, actor Chiyaan Vikram, actress Malavika Mohanan, and music director GV Prakash Kumar recently discussed about the film with ANI.
In an interview with ANI, director Pa Ranjith shared his views into the making of Thangalaan which released on August 15 in South cinemas and is set to premiere in Hindi on August 30.
“The KGF land… it is not just ordinary land. The land has a lot of mythological and historical significance,” Ranjith said. “When I started delving into the history and folklore of the region, I discovered a treasure trove of stories about the people who lived there, their struggles, and their beliefs.”
Actress Malavika Mohanan, who plays Aarti in the film, discussed her role. “I think the most challenging part of this film for me was that every aspect of the character I’m playing, Aarti, was hard and challenging.”
