Actress Manasa Varanasi has candidly spoken about the intimate scenes in her upcoming film, ‘Couple Friendly’, a musical romantic love story opposite Santosh Shobhan. Promising a fresh cinematic experience, this Valentine’s Day release is set to intrigue audiences keen on Telugu cinema’s evolving narratives.

Romantic Scenes: Family’s Emotional Journey

Actress Manasa Varanasi has revealed several interesting details about the romantic scenes in her film ‘Couple Friendly‘, explaining how her family members reacted and stating that the film will offer a new experience to cinema lovers. Manasa Varanasi plays the female lead opposite Santosh Shobhan in ‘Couple Friendly’, a musical romantic love story directed by Ashwin Chandrashekar. Produced by UV Concepts in Telugu and Tamil and presented by UV Creations, the film is set to release on February 14th, Valentine’s Day.

Initially, Manasa’s family was deeply hurt by her role in the film. During recent promotions, Manasa shared her anguish regarding her family’s reaction to her entry into cinema and the intimate scenes. “This movie features very intimate scenes between the lead actors,” she explained. “When the story was first narrated, they informed me it was a love story with two kissing scenes. Initially, I had many doubts. However, our DOP, director, and hero Santosh — the entire team — appeared very professional and honest. I gained confidence that these scenes would not be filmed obscenely. They also created a comfortable situation for me in this regard. Hero Santosh was very friendly. When the entire team was trying to create magic, I felt that as an actress, I too should be professional, so I agreed to and performed those scenes. Even though they were romantic scenes, they were shot beautifully and very poetically. In my opinion, glamour doesn’t mean exposing.”

However, after the teaser and trailer were released, her family members spoke to her with some discomfort. “They were hurt, asking, ‘How could you do something like this, being from our Varanasi family?'” she recalled. “Afterward, my family and friends understood and supported me.”

Guerrilla Filming, Future Acting Dreams

Manasa also shared details about the film’s production. “Shooting this film in Chennai using the guerrilla method was a wonderful experience. People would be walking by, and we had to perform our scenes. We didn’t know where the camera was placed; we just had to act. Performing such scenes felt very new to me as an actress. Although our director is from Tamil Nadu, he knows Telugu. That’s why he wrote dialogues that would appeal to both Telugu and Tamil native sensibilities. I even tried dubbing in Tamil, but my director didn’t like my Tamil accent.”

Looking ahead, Manasa revealed, “My next movie is in Kollywood. I am also listening to stories in Telugu. I will carefully select and announce them soon. Currently, I wish to do youthful entertainer movies that convey a message to the youth. I also want to do films in all genres.”

Manasa Varanasi concluded by sharing her film experiences and her family’s reaction, explaining her decision regarding the romantic scenes and the subsequent developments, and expressing excitement for the film’s release.

Looking Ahead

Manasa’s candid journey, navigating ‘couple friendly’ scenes and family’s initial shock, deeply resonates. Her professional integrity sets a benchmark. As her film nears release, it will be compelling to witness how our audiences embrace this evolving narrative, potentially ushering in a fresh, progressive chapter for South Indian cinema.
