From Kumbh Star to Interfaith Bride

Monalisa, who suddenly rose to prominence with the Kumbh Mela, has made a sensational decision, shocking everyone by marrying a Muslim man according to Hindu traditions. She has also clarified that this is not ‘Love Jihad’. Monalisa Bhonsle (also known as Moni), who became an overnight celebrity selling ‘Rudraksha malas’ at the Prayagraj Mahakumbh Mela, married her beloved Farmaan Khan on Wednesday evening (March 11) at the Arumanoor Nayanar Temple near Poovar in Kerala. This sensational decision came after she sought police protection due to threats to her life from her family members.

The wedding gained additional significance with the presence of prominent personalities, including Kerala Education Minister V. Sivankutty and CPI(M) State Secretary M.V. Govindan.

Speaking to the media on Thursday (March 12), Monalisa clarified that her marriage was not an instance of ‘Love Jihad‘ and that it was conducted according to Hindu traditions. To quell doubts about her age, she presented her birth certificate at the press meet, which indicated she was born in 2008, thus proving she is a major and has the right to make her own decisions.

Love Beyond ‘Love Jihad’: A Bold Choice

The couple initially connected through social media before meeting in person on a film set. Farmaan shared details of their relationship, stating, “We have been dating for six months. But those six months felt like sixty years of love to us. That’s why we decided to get married.” Monalisa herself revealed that she proposed to Farmaan. “When I proposed, Farmaan initially refused. But I convinced him with my love,” she recounted jokingly.

Looking ahead, Monalisa expressed her heartfelt desire to settle in Kerala while acting in South Indian films, stating that the state embraces people irrespective of caste or religion. The news of Monalisa’s wedding is currently a hot topic.
