Prabhas’s latest film, RajaSaab, has utterly failed to impress audiences, leaving fans anxious about his future. This significant box office disappointment now casts a long shadow over his career, particularly the much-anticipated collaboration with director Maruthi. With RajaSaab’s poor performance leading to empty theatres and losses, many are now anxiously wondering if the Prabhas-Maruthi project remains a viable reality.

RajaSaab’s Aftermath: A Pan-India Star’s Image Crisis

The RajaSaab Effect: Is a Prabhas-Maruthi Combo Now Difficult? Fans Anxious! Prabhas’s film ‘RajaSaab’ failed to achieve the desired results, raising significant questions about his future collaborations, particularly with director Maruthi. The film’s disappointing outcome has sparked anxiety among fans regarding its impact on Prabhas’s career. ‘The RajaSaab’ utterly failed to impress audiences, leading to empty theatres post-release and considerable losses for its producers.

In the world of filmmaking, from the writer to the financier, everyone strives for profit, which hinges on delivering compelling content and a memorable cinematic experience. This responsibility rests on all involved, including lead actors who must trust the director and script.

Prabhas, having earned recognition as a Pan-India star after Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali,’ has since consistently starred in Pan-India films, riding a wave of massive popularity. There was a strong belief that even if a story was weak, Prabhas’s widespread Pan-India market would guarantee a tsunami of collections. However, this assumption was shattered by ‘The RajaSaab.’ Prabhas, in a first-time vintage look with a horror backdrop, made ‘The RajaSaab’ amidst massive expectations. Despite this, the highly anticipated film utterly failed at the box office, with several scenes failing to impress. Even with poor content, producers initially believed Prabhas’s star power could ensure recovery and profit. Yet, despite being released during the advantageous Sankranti holidays and enjoying a decent initial run, theatres became completely empty afterward, leading to significant losses for the producers and, crucially, considerable damage to Prabhas’s image. Many watch films solely for him, making this setback particularly impactful.

Maruthi Under Fire: Prabhas Collaboration Unlikely?

Consequently, comments have emerged questioning Maruthi, who had made grand claims about presenting Prabhas in a certain way, but seemingly failed to showcase him according to his stature. Some fans are even furious, alleging Maruthi deliberately damaged Prabhas’s image.

Adding fuel to the fire, producer Natti Kumar’s remarks on social media have raised suspicions, as he claimed director Maruthi and line producer SKN were the true beneficiaries of ‘The RajaSaab.’ He alleged that despite People Media Factory allocating a huge budget, low-quality VFX was used, and nearly 100 crore rupees were diverted for personal purposes, compromising the film’s quality. While there’s no official proof for these statements, and some reports suggest these are deliberate rumors, the controversy further clouds the future of any potential film with Maruthi.

Regardless of these specific allegations, it is evident that People Media Factory invested heavily in the film. The use of substandard VFX became a major drawback, despite the large sums spent, including a reported 23 crore rupees on a single scene featuring Prabhas fighting a crocodile, a scene for which Prabhas reportedly even reduced his remuneration. Despite such commitment from Prabhas, reports circulated that Maruthi did not utilize him properly. As a result, not only are questions arising about a future Prabhas-Maruthi collaboration, but Prabhas’s fans are vehemently asserting he wouldn’t even consider working with Maruthi again. The consensus is that Maruthi has undeniably damaged the image of a Pan-India star like Prabhas. Following ‘RajaSaab’s’ impact, fans are fervently hoping Prabhas will exercise greater caution with his subsequent film choices. Whether another film with Maruthi will ever materialize remains a highly debated question.

Looking Ahead

The RajaSaab debacle undeniably dented Prabhas’s pan-India image, fueling intense fan outrage against Maruthi. With his global stardom at stake, fans vehemently demand extreme caution from Darling for future projects. A Maruthi-Prabhas reunion now seems a distant, if not impossible, dream, as fans rightly prioritize quality over rushed collaborations.
