However, our wedding took place three years later. It also took me a long time to adjust to my in-laws’ home. However, for three years after our marriage, my in-laws maintained a cold and distant attitude towards us. My husband is the eldest grandson in their family. She elaborated on his distinguished background: “My husband’s family in Bhuvanagiri is very large. My husband’s father’s and uncle’s families still live together as one joint family. There is a Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari temple there, and its entire responsibility lies with my father-in-law. My husband’s grandfather is still alive; he is a prominent landlord (Zamindar) in the region. They own successful cement and iron businesses and are very famous throughout Bhuvanagiri, near Yadadri.”
