Plot Overview:
Uruku Patela tells the story of Patel (Tejas Kancherla), a wealthy yet uneducated man from a village in Telangana, whose biggest desire is to marry an educated woman. However, due to his lack of education (having only studied until the seventh grade), no woman from his village is interested in him. Fate changes for him when he meets Dr. Akshara (Khushboo Chowdhary) at a friend’s wedding. Despite the odds, Akshara, a doctor from a neighboring village, agrees to marry Patel. But her sudden acceptance raises questions. The plot thickens when Patel faces danger on Akshara’s birthday at the hospital. As he gets caught in a web of conspiracies involving her family, Patel finds himself running for his life. The mystery behind why Akshara chose Patel and the dark secrets of her family unravel in the second half, delivering a suspense-filled narrative.

Review:
Director Vivek Reddy crafts an engaging premise by combining thriller and comedy with themes of superstition. The movie begins with a lighthearted first half, focusing on Patel’s attempts to win over Akshara and navigating the ridicule of those around him. The first half is filled with romance and comedy, though it follows a predictable path. However, just before the interval, the film takes a sudden twist, injecting suspense that carries the second half into thriller territory

The second half, primarily set in a hospital, brings tension and unexpected twists, including a climax that catches the audience off guard. While the film raises expectations with its twists, it falls short in terms of pacing and depth. Some scenes feel drawn out, especially in the middle, and the screenplay could have been tighter to maintain a more consistent flow of energy.

Performances:
Tejas Kancherla impresses as Patel, delivering a performance that showcases both humor and intensity. He carries the film on his shoulders, especially in the second half, where his character faces more dangerous and suspenseful situations. His comedic timing in the first half adds a layer of charm, while his fear and tension in the second half are well-executed

Khushboo Chowdhary, as Dr. Akshara, gives a noteworthy debut performance. Her role is pivotal in driving the mystery of the plot, and she balances her character’s sweet and mysterious sides effectively. Supporting actors like Goparaju Ramana (Patel’s father) and Chammak Chandra provide additional comic relief, though some of the humor may feel excessive at times

Technical Aspects:
The cinematography by Praveen Lakkaraju complements the suspenseful nature of the second half, particularly the night sequences in the hospital. The visuals enhance the thriller elements, while the background score adds to the tension. However, the music itself is forgettable and could have been stronger. Production values are decent but not extraordinary, and the film could have benefited from tighter editing to avoid slow pacing in certain parts

Final Verdict:
Uruku Patela tries to blend romance, thriller, and comedy, but the execution doesn’t fully deliver. The first half feels somewhat predictable and slow, while the second half picks up the pace with unexpected twists. Tejas Kancherla’s performance stands out, and the suspense in the latter half makes the film watchable. However, the film’s pacing issues and lack of depth in certain areas prevent it from being as impactful as it could have been.

If you enjoy thriller-comedies with a dash of suspense and superstitions, Uruku Patela might offer you an interesting one-time watch, though don’t expect a gripping experience throughout.Pros:

  • Tejas Kancherla’s performance
  • Twists in the second half
  • Engaging climax

Cons:

  • Pacing issues, especially in the first half
  • Some stretched sequences in the hospital
  • Forgettable music
