Devara: Part 1, starring Jr. NTR, Saif Ali Khan, and Janhvi Kapoor, is set for release on September 27, 2024 and is one of the most highly anticipated films of the year. Following the global success of RRR, the excitement surrounding Jr. NTR’s next project is palpable, and Devara is already generating massive buzz, largely due to its impressive VFX and intense underwater action sequences featured in the trailer.
According to advance booking trends, the film is expected to open to over Rs 100 crore gross worldwide on its first day. The latest reports indicate that Devara has already sold 14.11 lakh tickets worth Rs 51 crore gross in India alone, with overseas pre-sales exceeding Rs 40 crore. This positions the film for a potential global opening day gross of over Rs 125 crore, making it the second-biggest opener of 2024, behind Kalki 2898 AD.
The film is an action drama with Jr. NTR in a dual role, playing both father and son, Devara and Varadha. Janhvi Kapoor makes her Telugu debut as Varadha’s love interest, Thangam, while Saif Ali Khan portrays the menacing villain, Bhaira, marking his debut in Tollywood.
Directed by Koratala Siva, Devara is expected to restore the director’s reputation after the underperformance of his previous release, Acharya. Koratala Siva’s previous films such as Mirchi, Srimanthudu, Janatha Garage, and Bharat Ane Nenu were box-office hits, and he is hopeful that Devara will replicate that success.
Devara: Part 1 is releasing on a grand scale across India in multiple languages (Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada) and formats (IMAX, 4DX, ScreenX, and more), adding to its potential to be a major box-office sensation.
