NTR’s Devara, directed by Koratala Siva, marks their second collaboration following the success of Janatha Garage. Released on September 27, this pan-India film has garnered mixed reviews in terms of narrative but is breaking box office records, largely benefiting from the Dasara holiday season. With no other major releases on the horizon, Devara is expected to continue its reign during this festival period.
Despite the overwhelming success, the film’s much-anticipated success meet, originally planned for Thursday in Guntur, had to be canceled due to unforeseen reasons. Authorities denied police permission for the event in light of the Navaratri festivities in both Telugu states. The news was disappointing for fans, many of whom were eagerly waiting to celebrate alongside NTR. In response, the film’s producer and distributor Naga Vamsi publicly apologized to fans for the cancellation.
However, the celebrations weren’t entirely missed. A private success party was hosted on Thursday night at a luxury hotel in Hyderabad. Though the event was closed off to fans and media, it was a star-studded affair. In attendance were NTR, fellow cast members, director S.S. Rajamouli, and prominent Tollywood figures such as producers Dil Raju, Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, and Danayya, among others.
Though fans missed out on the public celebration, this private gathering honored Devara’s success, cementing its place as one of the biggest films of the year.
