Nandamuri Balakrishna, a legendary figure in Telugu cinema, recently celebrated a monumental milestone—completing 50 years in the industry. The actor was honored in a grand ceremony, acknowledging his significant contributions to Telugu cinema. However, true to his character, Balakrishna used this occasion not just to celebrate his achievements, but also to extend a helping hand to those in need.
The recent devastating floods in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have caused severe damage, affecting numerous districts across both states. In response, the governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have been actively involved in rescue operations, while many top Tollywood actors have stepped up to contribute to the relief efforts.
Balakrishna, deeply moved by the plight of the flood victims, penned an emotional note expressing his sorrow and concern for those affected. As a gesture of solidarity and support, he donated Rs 50 lakhs each to the Chief Minister’s Relief Funds of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, amounting to a total donation of Rs 1 crore. In his heartfelt message, Balakrishna expressed his hope that both states would recover swiftly from this natural disaster.
Balakrishna is not alone in his efforts; Jr NTR, another prominent figure in the Nandamuri family, also donated Rs 1 crore towards the flood relief. Their contributions are part of a larger wave of support from the Tollywood community, with several other actors and technicians making significant donations to the CM Relief Funds of the Telugu states.
On the professional front, Balakrishna is currently filming his 109th movie, an untitled mass entertainer directed by Bobby Kolli. The film, produced by S Naga Vamsi, is slated for release during Sankranthi 2025. As Balakrishna continues to shine on screen, his off-screen contributions and compassion further solidify his legacy as not just a cinematic icon, but also a philanthropist committed to the welfare of his community.
