Unexpected Twist: License Suspension Halted

Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa has received a significant reprieve in the Renukaswamy murder case, as the Karnataka High Court stayed the police order suspending his gun license. This development introduces an unexpected twist to the ongoing proceedings.

Darshan was arrested by the police in June 2024 in connection with the murder of 33-year-old Renukaswamy, with Darshan being identified as one of the prime accused. Nine months after his arrest, in January 2025, the Deputy Commissioner of Police issued an order suspending Darshan’s gun license. Challenging this decision, Darshan approached the Karnataka High Court. A bench led by Justice Nagaprasanna, after hearing the petition, issued an order temporarily halting the suspension, granting Darshan interim relief.

The court, however, clarified that this is not the final verdict in the case, but merely a stay on the gun license suspension order. Beyond the gun license matter, the Renukaswamy murder case involves serious allegations against Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and 15 other individuals.

Murder Case: Deeper Allegations Unfold

Criminal cases have been registered against them, encompassing charges such as criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly, kidnapping, and murder. According to the prosecution, Renukaswamy was allegedly kidnapped and murdered for sending obscene messages to Pavithra Gowda. The charge sheet details that Darshan and his associates, angered by these messages, reportedly took Renukaswamy to a shed in Bengaluru where he was beaten with slippers and a wooden stick, leading to his death from severe injuries.

There are also allegations that some of the accused were paid money to confess to the crime. All 17 accused in this case have denied the allegations against them, presenting arguments of their innocence in court. While the investigation remains ongoing, everyone awaits the court’s final verdict.

The stay on Darshan’s gun license suspension has undeniably given a new dimension to the proceedings, and many more details are yet to come to light in this complex case.
