A political tremor has hit Tollywood! Jadcherla MLA Anirudh Reddy has boldly challenged top stars like Balakrishna, Pawan Kalyan, and Chiranjeevi, demanding mandatory 90-day drug tests. Citing widespread public suspicions about drug use, his remarks have ignited fierce debate across social media and become a significant talking point in film and political circles.

MLA challenges stars: Prove no drugs

Jadcherla MLA Anirudh Reddy has challenged Tollywood heroes, demanding that they undergo drug tests every 90 days, citing widespread public suspicions about drug use in the film industry. His remarks, which mentioned top heroes like Balakrishna, Pawan Kalyan, and Chiranjeevi, have stirred social media and become a significant topic of discussion in film and political circles.

Anirudh Reddy clarified that the public harbors many suspicions about drug use in the film industry, and actors bear the responsibility of dispelling them. He demanded that celebrities recognize their responsibility, given their significant influence in society. He proposed that film actors must undergo a hair follicle drug test once every 90 days, explaining that a urine test only provides 14-15 days of data, whereas a hair test reveals a three-month history.

“As an MLA, I have already undergone the test. My reports are clear. I have proven to the people of Jadcherla that I am a person with no such habits. Similarly, actors should also show reports proving they are not drug addicts. If they fail to do so, it will have to be assumed that they are taking drugs,” he stated in sensational comments.

Actors’ influence: On-screen habits questioned

The MLA emphasized actors’ enormous fan base, reminding that youth imitate whatever their idols do. “If Pawan Kalyan wears six-pocket pants, fans buy the same; if Chiranjeevi does a dance step, everyone learns it. If you, who are such idols, prove through reports that you are staying away from drugs, your fans will also stay away from drugs,” he advised. He opined that whatever politicians say is often seen as criticism, but people listen when heroes speak. Therefore, he demanded that a strict rule be introduced requiring drug test reports every 90 days as a mandatory condition for a film’s release.

Anirudh Reddy also expressed displeasure over politicians being portrayed negatively and criticized actors’ on-screen habits. He questioned why, as an MLA, he is trolled for discussing illicit liquor, yet heroes drinking alcohol holding glasses in movies is deemed “great.” He criticized that old movies like ‘Kushi’ showed ‘packet sara’ (gudumba – illicit liquor), which he considers demeaning to areas like Dhoolpet. He expressed concern that when actors like Pawan Kalyan drink alcohol on screen, young people are drawn to such habits. He clarified that he is not against anyone, but making these comments solely for the good of society.

Anirudh Reddy’s comments are creating a stir in Tollywood, and it remains to be seen how celebrities will react to this challenge. This issue has become a prominent topic of discussion in film and political circles.

Looking Ahead

Anirudh Reddy’s gauntlet is truly momentous. Tollywood now faces an unprecedented acid test, demanding accountability from its stars and leadership. Will genuine reform be embraced, safeguarding its image and our youth? The public watches keenly; Tollywood’s response will undoubtedly redefine its future.
