Cinema: My Life, My Breath!

Pawan Kalyan Creates a Sensation at the Ustaad Event! Cinema is my life, my breath!! Power Star Pawan Kalyan delivered an emotional and impactful speech at the pre-release event of ‘Ustaad Bhagat Singh’ in Hyderabad. With high expectations riding on the film, set to release on March 19th, coinciding with Ugadi, Kalyan expressed his profound connection to cinema, stating, “Cinema has fed me, and it is also through cinema that I got the chance to serve the people. Cinema is everything to me!” He elaborated on his perspective, emphasizing the importance of a healthy film industry. “That is why producers should do well. I don’t ask about collections; the film should be good. I don’t consider it Telugu, Tamil, or Hindi cinema; I consider it Indian cinema. Today, Telugu cinema has reached the Oscars. I am happy to be a part of such an industry. I strive to perform as well as possible what my directors and writers have written and told me, but the results are not in our hands.”

Pawan Kalyan then touched upon his personal reverence for his brother, Chiranjeevi, and shared his happiness about the family’s support for ‘Ustaad Bhagat Singh.’ “For me, there is only one hero, Chiranjeevi. Harish Shankar asked me to invite Chiranjeevi garu to the event, but if I invite him, I become silent like a younger brother. I am happy that Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan tweeted after watching the ‘Ustaad’ trailer.”

Ustaad’s Journey: Crafting Success

He acknowledged the arduous process of filmmaking: “When a film starts, we wish it to be good, turn out well, and be completed quickly. But once it begins, unexpected obstacles arise. We endure many ups and downs. Overcoming all these and making a film is very difficult. Cinema provides us with food. That’s why no hero ever wishes for any film to fail.”

Recalling his association with music director Devi Sri Prasad, Pawan Kalyan remarked, “After ‘Gabbar Singh’, we couldn’t collaborate again for a long time. Even before Devi Sri Prasad entered films, I released his first private album. I’ve continued my association with Devi since then, and he has given energetic songs for this film.” He also mentioned the film’s producer, Naveen, stating, “Producer Naveen garu became a distributor with my film ‘Gabbar Singh’. He has been asking me to do a film with him for a long time. It finally materialized now.” He further praised director Harish Shankar, crediting him as the “sole reason this film came to be.” “I don’t know horse riding, but he included a horse-riding scene in ‘Gabbar Singh’. I tell Harish Shankar not to get into unnecessary disputes and controversies. If someone says something, he counters them. One day he will work for Telangana. He is a very knowledgeable person. This film should achieve a success like ‘Gabbar Singh’ for you. But the result is in your hands. We all worked hard to make this film without flaws.”

Unity in Cinema, Service to All

Addressing his dual role in politics and cinema, Kalyan asserted, “Even if I am in politics, you cannot take cinema out of my heart. If there is no cinema, crime increases. Police reported that when Veerappan kidnapped a Kannada hero in Bangalore and films stopped for a few days, the crime rate there increased. All heroes’ films should do well.” He also addressed the often-debated topic of ticket prices. “People talk about increasing ticket prices. Cinema is not compulsory; we don’t force anyone to watch it at gunpoint, do we? For my films, I used to opt for lower ticket prices, while for other heroes, I allowed higher rates. However, on increased ticket prices, 18% GST goes to the government. If left unchecked, tickets would be sold in the black market, and we don’t know where that money goes. Therefore, after much consideration, I approved increased ticket rates for all films, irrespective of the hero, even for a Kannada film like ‘Kantara’. Even when Telugu film posters were torn in Karnataka, permission was given to ‘Kantara’ to run because it was a good film, recognizing that good cinema should prevail. Cinema should be good. I often see fan wars online; that is not the correct environment. As a hero, I state that I respect all heroes’ fans.” He reiterated, “I have no disagreements with any hero. All heroes should score hits. I’ve stated this many times. As a hero, I want producers to do well.”

Pawan Kalyan concluded his address with heartfelt thanks to his fans and reflections on his political journey and future in cinema. “You all stood by ‘Bheemla Nayak.’ Without you, there would be no Pawan Kalyan. The only distance between you and me is two heartbeats. A Pawan Kalyan film should always have entertainment. It should balance commercial elements with themes like patriotism and social responsibility. This film will follow that same pattern. After entering politics, I felt it might be better to leave films. Those who dislike me speak about me and my films. They all have other businesses, but films are all I have. Next time, if anyone approaches me to make a film, I will send them to Harish and the Mythri team. They should learn from them how to plan effectively in a short time and how to utilize my time properly. Due to factors like Corona and politics, the film got delayed. We meticulously planned how to shoot this film without hindering my existing responsibilities. We planned for 40 days, and I shot by dedicating time every morning and evening. This film gave me the assurance and courage that I can do movies even when busy. They even made me dance in this film. The film contains the line, ‘a lineage that delivers, a star that devastates,’ but I tell you, ‘I am of a lineage that loves you, and a star that serves’,” he said. He stated that ‘Ustaad’ has brought back his confidence. Pawan Kalyan’s passionate speech has significantly raised expectations for ‘Ustaad Bhagat Singh,’ with fans eagerly awaiting the film’s release.

Looking Ahead

Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Ustaad’ speech powerfully declared cinema his ‘life, his breath.’ With renewed confidence to balance screen and service, the ‘Power Star’ assures fans impactful, purposeful films. ‘Ustaad Bhagat Singh’ is poised as a monumental chapter, a testament to his unwavering spirit and enduring bond with millions. A spectacle truly awaited.
