This groundbreaking move promises to revolutionize production, propelling Tollywood onto the global stage like never before.

Rajamouli’s Vision: Stunning Tech for Indian Cinema

Rajamouli’s Sensation: ‘Varanasi’ with Hollywood Technology.. The Biggest Tech Revolution in the Country! A sensation in the history of Tollywood! State-of-the-art Hollywood technology is being utilized for director Rajamouli’s film ‘Varanasi’, promising to elevate the standard of Indian cinema even further. This technological revolution began in the Indian film industry with prominent filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli formally inaugurating the country’s most advanced ‘motion capture’ facility at Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad on Wednesday, February 25. This state-of-the-art Motion Capture Technology, the first of its kind in the country, is set to advance Indian cinema to the next level.

The motion capture lab has been established through a joint venture between Akkineni Nagarjuna’s Annapurna Studios and acclaimed producer Shobu Yarlagadda’s Mihira Visual Labs. Hollywood company ‘Animatrik Film Design,’ recognized as a global leader in motion capture technology, is providing full technical support for this initiative. It is noteworthy that Rajamouli, who previously launched India’s first Dolby cinema processing facility at Annapurna Studios, has now also inaugurated this lab.

Speaking about the groundbreaking development, Rajamouli expressed his excitement, stating that he used this facility for key scenes in his upcoming film ‘Varanasi,’ and the results were ‘stunning.’ He lamented, “India has world-class technical professionals. However, the biggest drawback for us was the lack of such state-of-the-art facilities here. Sometimes, I feel that if this motion capture technology had been available here during the making of my films like ‘Baahubali’ and ‘Eega’, I could have made those films even more spectacular.” He added, “Now, with the arrival of this A&M lab, that deficiency has been overcome. This will change the mindset of filmmakers. From now on, we will not need to depend on foreign countries.” This marks a significant step towards Nagarjuna Studios preparing to deliver Hollywood-level output right here in Hyderabad.

Motion Capture: Powering Indian Cinema’s Future

‘Baahubali’ producer Shobu Yarlagadda stated, “If Indian cinema truly wants to compete on the world stage, it is essential to have such advanced technical systems in the country. A director like Rajamouli utilizing this lab has further strengthened our belief that in the future, indigenous stories will be driven by our own technology.” Producers are hopeful that this technology will greatly contribute to elevating the standard of Indian cinema.

Annapurna Studios CTO CV Rao elaborated on the lab’s technical capabilities, explaining, “This serves as an extremely powerful ‘pre-visualization tool’ for directors. Filmmakers can plan their creative vision here even before heading to a live set. Camera angles, lens selection, and frame rates can all be experimented with in a virtual environment. This will lead to significant savings in cost and time during shooting.”

Annapurna Studios aims to collaborate with domestic and international filmmakers, game developers, and animation studios in the future. There is no doubt that Rajamouli’s ‘Varanasi’ film will set new standards in terms of technology, making it a trendsetter in Tollywood. Stay tuned for more updates!

Looking Ahead

Rajamouli’s ‘Varanasi’ heralds a new tech era for Indian cinema. With Annapurna Studios pioneering Hollywood motion capture, Tollywood will undoubtedly set global standards and attract vast collaborations. This is a moment of immense pride, cementing South India’s innovation leadership. Get ready; our industry’s future in filmmaking looks incredibly bright!
