Battling age-related health issues for some time, she breathed her last while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chennai. Sobhan Babu and Shantakumari were married on May 15, 1958, and for decades, the couple led an exemplary and harmonious marital life. Born Uppu Sobhanachalapathi Rao in Chinanandigama village of Krishna district, he developed a passion for films while studying law in Madras and subsequently became an actor. Although he was introduced to the screen with the film ‘Bhakta Shabari’ in 1959, he gained significant recognition with ‘Daiva Balam’. In the early stages of his career, he played minor roles in films featuring NTR and ANR. ‘Veerabhimanyu’, released in 1965, brought Sobhan Babu his first major success. Subsequently, films like ‘Manushulu Marali’, ‘Kalyana Mandapam’, ‘Jeevana Jyothi’, ‘Soggadu’, ‘Devatha’, and ‘Gorintaku’, among others, firmly established him as a leading actor.
