Actress Ameesha Patel, familiar to many in South India from her Telugu debut opposite Pawan Kalyan in ‘Badri’, has received an unexpected shock. A non-bailable warrant is out against her in a 2017 financial dispute for failing to appear in court. This legal move puts the star in a tight spot, despite her claims of repayment.

Non-Bailable Warrant Issued

Film actress Ameesha Patel has received an unexpected shock with the issuance of a non-bailable warrant against her in connection with a financial transaction dispute dating back to 2017. Patel, who made her Telugu debut in 2000 alongside Pawan Kalyan in ‘Badri’ and subsequently focused on Hindi cinema, faces this legal action for failing to appear in court despite summons, even though she claims the money was repaid.

The dispute originated in 2017 when event organizer Pawan Varma reportedly advanced Rs. 14.50 lakhs to Ameesha for a performance at a wedding on November 16, 2017. Accommodation was also arranged for her at a luxury hotel in Moradabad. However, Ameesha Patel reportedly informed Pawan Varma at the last minute that she would not participate in the event. Subsequently, she promised to return the full advance. While Rs. 10 lakhs was returned in cash, a check issued for the remaining Rs. 4.50 lakhs reportedly bounced. Pawan Varma then approached the Junior Division Court seeking legal action. Despite multiple summons issued by the court, Ameesha failed to appear, leading to the recent issuance of a non-bailable warrant to secure her attendance.

Ameesha’s lawyer, Abhishek Varma, responded to the development, stating that the matter, dating back to 2017, was resolved at the time as per agreement, with Ameesha having returned the full amount to Pawan Varma.

Ameesha Fights Back, Claims Fraud

However, Ameesha Patel has since responded to the dispute via social media, strongly countering the allegations. She asserted that the settlement regarding the financial transactions with Pawan Varma was completed in 2015, and that Pawan Varma had signed a deed to this effect. Patel claimed she had paid him the agreed amount a long time ago, accusing him of now filing cases with false accusations. She further stated that her lawyers would take appropriate criminal action against him for the fraud he is committing against her, urging Pawan Varma to stop spreading such false propaganda. These comments made by Ameesha are currently going viral on social media.

Despite her claim of repayment, the court’s non-bailable warrant for her non-appearance stands. It remains to be seen how the actress will address this latest legal development.

Looking Ahead

Despite her claims, the court’s non-bailable warrant stands firm. Ms. Patel now faces a serious test of legal accountability. It remains to be seen if her actions will uphold our judicial process’s sanctity, reminding all that the law applies equally, irrespective of status.
