Dhurandhar Sequel: Telugu Fans Request Hindi Songs, Citing Dubbing Woes
  • Dhurandhar shattered records, now sequel arrives March 19!
  • Telugu fans demand: NO dubbed songs, keep Hindi originals!
  • Why? Dubbed tracks lose soul, meaning, and impact.
  • Producers face dilemma: Will they heed fans’ fervent plea?

The Ranveer Singh-starrer ‘Dhurandhar’ was a global phenomenon, grossing over ₹1350 crores and topping charts worldwide. As the sequel buzz intensifies, an unexpected request has emerged from Telugu fans. Citing widespread “dubbing woes” experienced with the original film’s translated songs, a significant section of the Telugu audience is now demanding Hindi songs for the ‘Dhurandhar’ sequel.

Dhurandhar 2: Breaking New Records?

The film ‘Dhurandhar’, starring Ranveer Singh and Sara Arjun, achieved tremendous success, collecting over ₹1350 crores worldwide. Directed by renowned Bollywood director Adityadhar, the movie, which released on December 5 last year amidst huge expectations, gained immense popularity globally in a very short span of time, even creating a sensation by ranking #1 in 7 countries.

Now, its sequel, titled ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, is set to release on March 19. Following an initial Hindi trailer, a Telugu trailer was recently unveiled, sparking an interesting discussion among Telugu audiences.

Fans Plea: Hindi Songs Only!

While the Telugu trailer received a positive response for its dubbed dialogues, which were reportedly dubbed at Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad, a clear appeal from Telugu audiences to director Adityadhar is now going viral on social media. As this pan-India film is being released in various languages, fans are specifically asking the makers not to dub the songs into Telugu, but to retain them in their original Hindi version. The reason for this request stems from past experiences where many dubbed songs failed to significantly impress audiences. They observed that translated songs often suffer from weak mixing, convey incorrect meanings, and crucially, lose their ‘soul’ or essence. Therefore, even if the entire film is dubbed, they specifically request that the songs be kept in Hindi.

Meanwhile, Adityadhar’s wife and renowned actress Yami Gautam has also spoken about the film, stating that her ten-minute cameo will provide an unexpected image boost and has raised expectations. The makers themselves have expressed confidence that this sequel will surpass the original ‘Dhurandhar’ and create new records. Jointly produced by Adityadhar, Jyoti Deshpande, and Lokesh Dhar, it remains to be seen whether the producers will consider the fervent request of Telugu fans regarding the songs or proceed with Telugu-dubbed versions as the film approaches its March 19 release.

Looking Ahead

The Dhurandhar sequel’s Andhra-Telangana success hinges on this pivotal decision. Will makers heed fans’ call for original Hindi songs, setting a new multilingual standard? Or will traditional dubbing risk alienating a key audience? As March 19 nears, the industry watches if audience power truly triumphs.
