Actress Kani Kusruti has ignited a crucial discussion, making headlines with her sensational claim: ‘Every woman is a victim of harassment.’ Amidst acclaim for her magnificent performance in the newly released film ‘Assi,’ co-starring Taapsee Pannu, Kusruti’s powerful societal critique has gone viral, prompting widespread introspection across South India.

Her Bold Truth: Every Woman a Victim

Actress Kani Kusruti has made sensational comments, stating that every woman is a victim of harassment, a stark criticism of society. Her powerful statements come as audiences praise her magnificent performance in the newly released film ‘Assi’, where she co-stars with Taapsee Pannu.

In ‘Assi’, Kani Kusruti portrays ‘Parima’, a married woman and a rape victim. She detailed the profound psychological conflict she experienced while inhabiting the role, acknowledging that “it’s impossible for another person to fully understand the hell experienced by a woman who has been raped.” She explained, “As an actress, portraying that pain on screen was a greater challenge than I anticipated. While acting in some scenes, I became so engrossed that it felt as if it were truly happening to me. However, out of fear that fully delving into that pain would personally affect me, I had to maintain some distance.”

Kusruti reacted strongly to the societal situation of women, lamenting, “In India, almost every woman must have faced harassment at some point. She is a victim who has experienced harassment. As an actress, rather than playing such a role in front of the camera, living as a woman and facing daily challenges in this society feels much harder for me. Living here is a bigger struggle than acting out something that hasn’t happened.”

Embodying Pain: The ‘Assi’ Challenge

During the filming of the rape scenes, Kani revealed an interesting incident: the actors portraying the villains were reportedly very afraid to perform. “When I saw the fear in their eyes, I understood that they were truly acting,” she recalled. She further stated that being part of a film that speaks about such social issues brought her more relief than the fear women experience when walking alone in society.

Kani Kusruti’s superb performance in ‘Assi’ and her powerful comments are currently going viral on social media, garnering significant support from many. Her portrayal of a rape victim has been particularly lauded.

Looking Ahead

Kani Kusruti’s powerful ‘Assi’ portrayal and forthright comments resonate deeply across our region. Her courage, garnering immense support, signals a crucial turning point. This isn’t merely viral fame; it’s a profound call for collective introspection and genuine action for women’s dignity and safety.
