His candidness is resonating deeply.
Saved from the Brink
At the recent success meet for his film ‘Band Melam‘, writer and producer Kona Venkat shared a deeply emotional and shocking revelation from his past, explaining how he once contemplated suicide but was saved by an unexpected encounter. The film, starring Roshan and Sridevi, released on March 26th and is currently enjoying a successful run.
Speaking at the event, Kona Venkat became visibly emotional as he recounted the incident: “In my life, I first need to thank a girl. That girl had no hands and no legs. I saw her on Chennai Beach selling heart-shaped balloons. Her brother, I think, was pushing her in a wheelchair, looking ahead. But she, with a smile, was calling out to everyone, ‘Brother, buy a balloon!’ At that time, I had gone to that beach to die. I bought 50 sleeping pills and, with my last remaining money, purchased a water bottle. I intended to swallow those pills, drink the water, and end my life.”
The Girl Who Saved Him
He continued, “But after seeing that girl, my decision changed. Seeing her fighting for life despite having no hands and no legs, I thought, ‘Why should I die? If I fight, I will definitely win.’ That incident happened in 1997. After that, I worked on many films and achieved success. After becoming successful, I went to that beach many times to look for that girl, but she never appeared. That girl is the reason I reached this level. If not for her, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
This inspiring incident from Kona Venkat’s life has deeply moved many. We wish him continued success and look forward to more film updates.
