Her ‘Teach for Change’ initiative, founded in 2014, transforms government schools across our region, delivering quality education to underprivileged students. Already impacting over 3 lakh children, with millions more poised to benefit, it’s a commendable effort reshaping countless futures.

Teach for Change: Impacting millions

Manchu Lakshmi has launched a remarkable initiative with ‘Teach for Change’, an organization she founded in 2014 to transform government schools and provide quality education to underprivileged students. Her commendable efforts have already positively impacted over 3 lakh students, with millions more set to benefit from its programs.

The organization’s commitment to strengthening government schools was recently highlighted at the grand Teach for Change Annual Fundraiser 2026. Presented by Premier Energies and spearheaded by actress and social worker Manchu Lakshmi, the event took place magnificently at the HICC Convention Center in Hyderabad. Dignitaries from government, corporate, education, and film sectors attended, lending their support for quality education for children studying in government schools.

A major highlight was the ramp walk featuring prominent figures from the Indian film industry, who graced the stage in solidarity with the cause of educational service. They showcased exclusive collections designed by renowned designer Ramz, alongside Sakhi Heritage attire and Rose Jewellery ornaments, beautifully merging the worlds of cinema, fashion, and social service.

Among those on the ramp were veteran actress Suhasini, Charith Varma, Ritika Nayak, Amrutha Ayyar, Aishwarya Arjun, Sridevi (of ‘Court’ fame), Jayaprada, Avanthika Sundar, Sandhya Raju, and Raftaar.

Glamour meets purpose for education

Teach for Change focuses on developing smart classrooms, ICT-based learning, teacher training, volunteer programs, and improving fundamental literacy and numeracy skills in government schools.

Manchu Lakshmi, Chairperson and Managing Trustee of Teach for Change, articulated the organization’s core conviction, stating, “Teach for Change began with the belief that every child, irrespective of their background, deserves access to quality education. Government schools serve as a crucial foundation for children from underprivileged communities. By strengthening them, we can achieve long-term social change.”
