Prabhavati’s Koluvu: Deception and Dismissal
Satyam agrees. Prabhavati then goes to the dance school where she tells Kamakshi about the Bommala Koluvu (doll display festival) and asks her to find a large house for it. Kamakshi agrees. When Kamakshi asks, “If we’re organizing a Bommala Koluvu, someone needs to sing, right? Who will sing?”, Prabhavati replies, “I will sing myself.” Kamakshi, however, is frightened by these words.
Meanwhile, in the dance class, a couple in love secretly moves aside to talk. Believing themselves unobserved, they become engrossed in romance. Meena spots them and immediately scolds and reprimands them. Fearing Meena might inform Prabhavati, they employ a clever deception. Consequently, Prabhavati, unaware of the truth, dismisses Meena’s account. Instead, she scolds Meena and dismisses her. As Meena leaves, however, she issues a warning: “This will come back to haunt you someday.” Kamakshi also scolds Prabhavati, but Prabhavati pays no attention.
Balu then brings some dolls for the Bommala Koluvu, and Meena offers to bring some as well. While they are talking about the prayers, Manoj arrives and asks what all this is. Balu, however, responds with sarcastic remarks instead of a proper answer. Unable to tolerate his taunts, Manoj leaves.
When Manoj enters his room, Rohini is on the phone. When he asks whom she’s talking to, she says it’s Vidya. Later, Manoj learns about the Bommala Koluvu by asking Rohini. When Manoj suggests, “If they perform prayers, they might ask us for money,” Rohini replies, “They won’t ask.” However, she proposes a condition to Manoj, saying she needs three sarees for this occasion. Manoj, unable to refuse, simply tells her to use her credit card to buy them.
Money Troubles Brew Family Deceit
Balu then declares, “Since this prayer is for everyone in the house, let’s ask everyone for money.” Despite Meena’s attempts to dissuade him, Balu persists. He goes and knocks on the door. When Manoj asks, “What? Do you need permission to set up the Bommala Koluvu?”, Balu clarifies, “Not permission, but money.” Manoj says he won’t give it. Balu insists, “If you wish to participate in the prayer, you must contribute money.” Then, Rohini promises to give the money. Balu and Meena agree and leave. After they leave, Manoj questions Rohini about her agreement to give the money. She replies, “In some matters, we shouldn’t back down.”
Meanwhile, Ravi and Shruti are arguing about their mother. Just then, Balu and Meena arrive and tell them about the Bommala Koluvu at home. Shruti gives her share and tells them to take the rest from Ravi.
The following day, as Balu and Meena arrange the dolls, Shruti and Ravi arrive and speak affectionately with Meena. However, the moment they realize Prabhavati is approaching, they resume their feigned argument. Seeing their argument, Prabhavati becomes very happy. Meanwhile, they continue to scold each other.
