Surender’s Bold Promise: No Vulgar Songs

Renowned lyricist Mittapalli Surender has made sensational comments that are now circulating widely on social media. Known for his private songs and Telangana movement anthems, Surender has also made a significant mark in film music with popular tracks like the “Bullet Song” from George Reddy and the “Rambai Song” from Raju Weds Rambai. Speaking to the media recently during the promotions for his latest film, Maremma, starring Raviteja’s brother’s son Madhav, Surender openly declared that he would not write item songs or vulgar songs, and also addressed his absence from the promotions of the film Peddi.

Elaborating on his principled stance, Mittapalli Surender stated, “I write all kinds of songs, and I’m open to commercial songs. However, I will not write item songs or vulgar songs. The songs I create should be suitable for my mother, daughter, and sister to listen to; they shouldn’t have to skip any of my work.” He recounted an incident where a director friend, making a commercial film, asked him to pen an item song. Surender wrote the song but ultimately refused to give it to him. He further revealed, “Because of not writing item songs, I even lost a single card credit in a film. Still, I don’t mind. I have turned down many opportunities to write item songs.” This commitment to his values is now generating buzz for the specialty of his songs in Maremma.

Principled Choices Spark Film Buzz

Regarding his absence from the promotions of the film Peddi, Surender clarified, “I wrote two songs in Peddi, specifically the ones featured when Jagapathi Babu’s character dies and in the climax. However, during that film’s promotional period, I was in Goa for song sittings for another project. That’s why I couldn’t participate in the Peddi promotions.”

Mittapalli Surender’s candid remarks have sparked significant discussion among movie lovers and have simultaneously heightened expectations for his contributions to the upcoming film Maremma.

Looking Ahead

Surender’s principled stand, rejecting item songs and clarifying Peddi’s absence, has ignited vital discourse. With all eyes on Maremma, his conviction challenges industry norms, promising a film reflecting true artistic integrity. This bold stance doesn’t just raise expectations; it potentially reshapes how our cinema defines ‘mass’ appeal. A refreshing change, indeed.
