Telugu star Nikhil Siddhartha has urgently appealed to PM Modi and Union Minister Gadkari following the tragic Markapuram bus accident. Expressing deep anguish over a spate of similar incidents – four in six months claiming over 100 lives – he demands immediate, stringent inspections of private buses. His powerful voice now amplifies a critical road safety concern across our region.
Nikhil Demands Action on Bus Tragedies
Actor Nikhil Siddhartha has expressed deep dismay and anguish over the recent bus accident near Markapuram, appealing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for immediate action and urgent inspections of private buses. Highlighting a recent spate of tragedies, Nikhil noted that the Markapuram bus accident is the fourth such incident he has encountered in the last six months, collectively claiming over 100 lives. This grim tally prompted his urgent request for the government to conduct immediate inspections of all private travel buses.
The Markapuram incident itself was particularly horrific, with a private travel bus colliding with an oncoming tipper lorry near Rayavaram, which resulted in the bus catching fire. The accident occurred in the early hours of the morning, catching most passengers asleep. Reports tragically indicate that many were burned alive before they could comprehend what was happening. Approximately 40 people were believed to be traveling in the bus; while 10 passengers reportedly died on the spot and another 10 managed to escape, fears remain that up to 20 individuals, including small children, might still be trapped inside.
This adds to a series of previous fatal bus accidents, which included one near Kurnool last October where 19 passengers were trapped in flames, another severe accident in Chevella, and an incident in Nandyal district.
To amplify his concerns, Nikhil Siddhartha took to Twitter (X), directly urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, and the Transport Ministers of Andhra Pradesh (Ram Prasad Reddy) and Telangana (Ponnam Prabhakar) to immediately focus on these recurring accidents and implement stringent measures against private buses. In his widely shared tweet, Nikhil stated:
Markapuram Horror Fuels Safety Outcry
“This is the 4th such Bus Tragedy in the last 6 months im reading about which has claimed almost a 100 Lives. When will this Stop ? Radical Extreme Steps have to be taken. All Travels Buses & Transport companies need to be Inspected & Regulated at once by the Authorities.… https://t.co/5pymjzh35A”

Many have commented, demanding “Justice should be immediately provided to the victims, and those responsible for this incident should be punished. Bus accidents must be reduced. All state governments should crack down hard on private operators.”
Netizens are now collectively calling on both central and state governments to respond promptly and implement strict measures to prevent the recurrence of such tragic incidents.
Looking Ahead
Nikhil Siddhartha’s appeal, echoed by netizens, demands immediate, stringent government action. This isn’t just inspection; it’s valuing every life. Will our central and state leaders finally implement lasting reforms for genuinely safe roads across our states? Their decisive action is now awaited.
