Bollywood’s versatile comedian, Rajpal Yadav, has plunged into a new personal crisis. Emotional Plea: “I Have No Money”
Rajpal Yadav: Tearful Farewell – ‘I Have No Money’ Before Jail! Bollywood’s renowned comedian, Rajpal Yadav, is once again facing a severe crisis in his life. He finally had to surrender at Tihar Jail in Delhi in a cheque bounce case that has been ongoing for several years. His emotional statements made on this occasion have now become a topic of discussion on social media and within film circles.
This dispute began in 2010 when Rajpal Yadav decided to produce a film titled ‘Ata Pata Lapata’ under his own direction. For this, he borrowed ₹5 crore rupees from a Delhi-based company called ‘Murali Projects Private Limited’. However, the film suffered a huge failure at the box office, plunging Rajpal Yadav into severe financial losses. He failed to repay the borrowed amount, and when the cheques he issued bounced in the bank, the lenders approached the court.
The case underwent a lengthy trial. In 2018, the Magistrate’s court convicted Rajpal Yadav and sentenced him to six months in jail. Since then, he had been appealing in higher courts. Including interest, the total amount he owed reached approximately ₹9 crore. Although he paid a certain amount (₹75 lakh) in 2025, he failed to meet the deadlines given by the court regarding the remaining dues. On February 4, 2026, the Delhi High Court rejected his appeal, stating clearly that everyone is equal before the law and celebrities are not entitled to special concessions, and ordered him to surrender immediately.
The Film That Cost Everything
Before surrendering to Tihar Jail authorities, Rajpal Yadav spoke with immense anguish, breaking down in tears. “What should I do?” he despaired, “I don’t have a single penny now (Mere paas paise nahin hai). I see no way out. Here, we are all alone; no one is by our side. I have to endure this hardship by myself.” His words clearly reflected his distress, particularly that even friends did not come to his aid during his difficult time, emphasizing his sorrow that he would have to face these hardships alone.
It is disheartening and tragic that Rajpal Yadav, who once made millions laugh with his acting and shone as a star comedian, is now mired in financial difficulties and incarcerated due to his personal decisions and financial failures. This incident once again reminds us that even a big star cannot escape troubles if proper precautions are not taken in business dealings. Currently, he is serving his sentence in Tihar Jail. Only time will tell if he will be able to revive his career.
Looking Ahead
Rajpal Yadav’s plight offers a stark reminder: talent shields no one from financial imprudence. It’s a crucial lesson for all on diligent dealings. While his artistic legacy endures, only time and his resolve will dictate if he can rebuild from this profound personal nadir.
