Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker, known for her outspoken views, has once again made headlines, fiercely condemning the Taliban’s regressive new law allowing husbands to beat their wives. Her furious remarks, labelling it an “insult to humanity” and a blatant trampling of women’s rights, are resonating widely across social media, sparking outrage over such an inhumane decree.

Swara Slams Taliban’s Monstrous Wife-Beating Law

Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker has made headlines with her sensational remarks, as her furious comments on the Taliban’s new law allowing husbands to beat wives are going viral. She has condemned the law as an “insult to humanity” and a blatant trampling of women’s rights, expressing outrage over rules that effectively give husbands a free hand in domestic violence unless severe injuries are proven.

Swara Bhasker’s strong criticism targets the new Criminal Penal Code recently introduced by the Taliban government in Afghanistan, which she calls “completely inhumane and uncivilized.” She specifically attacked the law that permits beating wives without breaking bones or causing visible injury. On her Instagram platform, she declared, “They are not humans… they are cruel monsters.”

Further elaborating on her outrage, Bhasker stated, “This is absolutely unbelievable. To be honest, the Taliban are the worst people born in the human race. They are merciless, cruel, and monsters. They are an insult to the religion they claim to represent, and also to humanity. Their actions are utterly despicable.”

Taliban Law: Husbands Beat Wives, Women Face Jail

The new Taliban law on domestic violence specifies that a husband will only be punished if he beats his wife with a stick and she sustains severe injuries. Critically, the burden of proving such severe injury lies solely with the victimized woman. Even if the crime is proven, the maximum punishment for the husband is a mere 15 days in jail. Compounding this blow to women’s rights, the law also stipulates that if a wife leaves home without her husband’s permission, or refuses to return when asked, she faces a potential three-month jail sentence. Any relatives providing shelter to such a woman will also be considered criminals.

Critics are expressing grave concern that these measures completely suppress women’s autonomy and legal protection.

Swara Bhasker’s outspoken comments have resonated widely, going viral on social media with netizens showing strong support for her stance against the Taliban’s draconian laws.

Looking Ahead

Swara Bhasker’s courageous stance, amplified globally, firmly rejects the Taliban’s barbaric law. This collective voice is paramount. It’s a stark reminder: the fight for women’s dignity and universal rights demands unwavering vigilance and solidarity from us, ensuring true equality for all.
