A sensation grips Tollywood as Allu Aravind‘s candid comments on Chiranjeevi’s 1987 film ‘Aradhana’ go viral. This sparks an intriguing discussion, also involving his son Allu Arjun (Bunny), about star heroes’ film choices. It reflects on Chiranjeevi’s legendary balancing act: maintaining an unparalleled ‘mass image’ while delivering powerful, performance-oriented roles.

Image vs. Story: Why ‘Aradhana’ Failed

A sensation is unfolding in Tollywood as Allu Aravind’s shocking comments about Chiranjeevi’s 1987 film ‘Aradhana’ are now going viral, alongside a fascinating discussion he had with his son, Allu Arjun (Bunny), regarding future roles. After NTR, Chiranjeevi is the hero who garnered such a massive mass image in Tollywood, with his craze reaching its peak. Fans would celebrate his mass films, where Chiranjeevi was unparalleled in terms of dances, acting, and fights. However, in some instances, Chiranjeevi set aside his mass image and did films that prioritized acting, including ‘Aradhana’, ‘Swayamkrushi’, ‘Rudraveena’, and ‘Apadbandhavudu’.

The film ‘Aradhana’, released in 1987, was directed by Bharathiraja and produced by Allu Aravind. This class story, devoid of mass elements, was a remake of a Tamil film that was a hit in its original language but flopped in Telugu. Allu Aravind recently revealed the reason for ‘Aradhana’s’ failure in an interview. Allu Aravind stated that at the time, Chiranjeevi was an unparalleled mass hero whose image was far bigger than the story of ‘Aradhana’. He remarked that it would have been better if a smaller hero had done that film, as fans largely expected mass films from Chiranjeevi. That’s why ‘Aradhana’ didn’t work out, despite director Bharathiraja’s brilliant execution. Aravind explained that the movie failed simply because Chiranjeevi’s image was larger than the story.

He did, however, remind everyone that Chiranjeevi also had hits with his class movies, citing films like ‘Subhalekha’ and ‘Vijetha’ as examples of his success, proving that despite his mass image, Chiranjeevi ensured variety in his roles and explored all kinds of films. This led Allu Aravind to ponder if the current generation of heroes completely sideline class films as soon as they gain a mass image. Responding to this, he said, “Yes, I believe that current star heroes are sidelining class films.”

Allu Arjun’s Post-‘Pushpa 2’ Role Dilemma

He then revealed a personal conversation: “After ‘Pushpa 2’, I asked my son Allu Arjun what kind of film he intended to do next. We casually discussed, ‘How would it be if you did soft roles now? What would happen if you acted in a story where you are the youngest son in a family, sacrificing for your family?'” Allu Aravind disclosed that Bunny replied, “Daddy, I’m currently confused. You bring me a story. If the story feels amazing, I might dare to do that film.”

Currently, after ‘Pushpa 2’, Allu Arjun is set to star in a massive 800-crore pan-India film directed by Atlee. These comments by Allu Aravind about Chiranjeevi’s film and the subsequent discussion with Allu Arjun have now become a hot topic in Tollywood. Stay tuned for more updates.

Allu Aravind’s insights, coupled with Bunny’s colossal Atlee film, underline stardom’s evolving blueprint. Film choices define legacies. As Allu Arjun navigates his pan-India future, Tollywood’s eyes are glued to how the Icon Star etches his indelible mark. A defining era truly awaits!
