Who is the Real Killer?

‘Mrithyunjay’ Movie: Sree Vishnu’s Sensational Thriller.. Do you know who the killer is? A Shocking Review! ‘Mrithyunjay’ is Sree Vishnu’s first venture into the suspense thriller genre, and it has garnered significant anticipation among audiences. This film marks Sree Vishnu’s first attempt to make an impact with a suspense thriller in his career, generating massive expectations among viewers with premiere shows held even before its official release. The film features Reba Monica John in a police officer role and promises Sree Vishnu’s unique investigation into unraveling the mystery of murders. The big question is: do you know who the actual killer is?

Mrithyunjay Movie Review: The film ‘Mrithyunjay’ stars Sree Vishnu as the protagonist. It was produced by Sandeep Gunnam and Vinay Chilakapati under the banners Light Box Media and Picture Perfect Entertainment, and directed by Hussein Shah Kiran. Reba Monica plays the heroine, while Sudarshan, Racha Ravi, Baladitya, Siju, Chinna, Baby Ooha, and several others played pivotal roles. While ‘Mrithyunjay’ is set for a theatrical release on March 6th, premiere shows were screened the day before.

Jai (Sree Vishnu) works by securing obituary advertisements for a newspaper. Consequently, whenever someone dies, he visits their house and employs various tactics to secure ads. However, Jai harbors an ambition to work as a crime reporter, but his superiors do not approve. Achyut Sharma (Baladitya) dies unexpectedly, leaving behind a daughter named Anjali. Jai visits the house, and seeing the girl, he is reminded of his own childhood. Three days later, he visits the scene of another death. Since the deceased was a witness in a case, the police initially suspect murder but later conclude it was an accidental death. However, Jai suspects that Achyut Rao’s death and this person’s death are strikingly similar. Even when he informs ACP Seetha (Reba Monica John), the police officer handling the case, she does not take his concerns seriously. As a result, Jai begins to investigate the case from his own perspective. He grows close to Anjali and promises to uncover the truth behind her father’s death. As Jai delves deeper into the investigation, he discovers that many similar murders have occurred. Despite informing Police Seetha, she still fails to take the matter seriously. So, will Jai apprehend the killer? Will Police Seetha eventually take this case seriously? Why is the killer committing these murders? Who is that killer? Will Jai keep his promise to Anjali? To find out all these answers, one must watch the film on screen.

Unraveling the Murder Mystery

Sree Vishnu, who has consistently impressed audiences with comedy films and occasional experimental ventures, generated high expectations with his first foray into the suspense thriller genre. However, confusions regarding the release date and a lack of extensive promotions meant the film did not achieve wide public reach. The core plot, involving murders and the hero catching the killer, is somewhat routine. Nevertheless, the screenplay crafted around the killer’s capture is novel. Will he solve the murder mystery? The first half focuses on introducing all the characters, Jai’s discovery that these are murders, his investigation, and the search for the villain. At the interval, the villain and hero come face-to-face. While the villain recognizes the hero and knows he is being sought, the hero fails to recognize him. This interval bang successfully builds intrigue for the second half. The second half unfolds engagingly, showing how the hero apprehends the villain without knowing his identity, and what actions the police take. A couple of twists within this thrilling narrative are well-executed.

However, the police character is portrayed as extremely ineffective. It is baffling why a police officer would treat such a serious case so lightly. The police scenes in the film are a significant drawback. While the hero’s investigation is central, there was no need to portray the police as so utterly incompetent. The narrative was also stretched in certain places. The two episodes in the vegetable market, however, are suspenseful and effective. Despite being a serious thriller, attempts were made to incorporate Sree Vishnu’s signature style of comedy in two or three places. The absence of a love story and the shorter runtime are positive aspects.

Sree Vishnu, who has impressed with comedy and emotional roles throughout his career, impressed for the first time by appearing somewhat serious and new in this genre. Reba Monica performed adequately in the police role, but the character could have been portrayed with more power. The actor who played the villain delivered a very strong performance. Sudarshan and Racha Ravi, while providing occasional laughs, impressed in their roles as friends. Baladitya made a return to films after a long time in a guest role. Ayyappa Sharma, Aishwarya, Siju, Krishna Kaushik, Chinna, and the rest of the cast delivered commendable performances in their respective roles.

Performances, Twists, and Flaws

Reba Monica’s police get-up was striking! The cinematography offered good visuals. The background music was effective. The songs were passable. The director crafted a thriller crime story with a fresh concept and executed it competently with a conventional screenplay. A tighter edit, cutting some of the lingering scenes, would have improved the pacing. The film appears to have been made with a decent production budget.

Overall, ‘Mrithyunjay’ can be said to be a commendable debut for Sree Vishnu in the suspense thriller genre. The film merits a rating of 2.75. Note: This movie review and rating represent solely the personal opinion of the analyst. Ultimately, it remains to be seen whether ‘Mrithyunjay’ will prove to be a significant turning point in Sree Vishnu’s career. Stay tuned for more updates regarding this film.

Looking Ahead

Ultimately, “Mrithyunjay” marks a commendable foray for Sree Vishnu into the suspense genre. While our 2.75 rating reflects its merits and flaws, the film unquestionably ignites curiosity about his future. Will this debut prove to be the ‘killer’ turning point for his career? Only time, and the audience, will truly tell.
