- Kher was also auditioning for the same Hollywood movie
- Kaushik only told Kher after final selection and before flying to London
Mumbai, June 28. Late actor Satish Kaushik made quite an impact with his portrayal as Chanu Ahmed in the Hollywood drama "Brick Lane".
However, did you know that veteran actor and a close friend of Satish Kaushik, Anupam Kher, was also trying for the same role?
During his appearance on the "Kapil Sharma Show", Satish Kaushik revealed why he did not tell Anupam Kher about bagging "Brick Lane".
He shared, "So, the casting director had come here. He contacted me at the end. And I thought, I won't tell Anupam (Kher) because I did not want the role to shift there. So, I gave a screen test and when I got selected, and was about to go to London to shoot, I told him."
Why Satish Kaushik Kept Brick Lane a Secret
When Kher asked Satish Kaushik why he was going to London, he shared that he would be shooting a Hollywood movie there for two and a half months.
Kher asked him, "Which film did you get?"
When Satish Kaushik told him it was "Brick Lane", Kher said that even he was trying for that movie.
Anupam Kher's Reaction to the Hidden Role
"Why didn't you tell me?" Kher had asked.
To this, Satish Kaushik replied that it was a religious reason, and also he didn't want him to snatch the role.
Made under the direction of Sarah Gavron, "Brick Lane" is a cinematic adaptation of the 2003 novel of the same name by the British writer Monica Ali. The screenplay of the drama has been written by Laura Jones and Abi Morgan.
Accompanying Satish Kaushik, actress Tannishtha Chatterjee played the lead role of Nazneen in the flick, along with Christopher Simpson, Naeema Begum, Lana Rahman, Lalita Ahmed, Harvey Virdi, Harsh Nayyar, Abdul Nlephaz Ali and Bijal Chandaria in pivotal roles.
Satish Kaushik passed away from a heart attack in Gurugram on 9 March 2023 at the age of 66.
Looking ahead: Fans may now look forward to more behind-the-scenes revelations from industry friendships, potentially bridging gaps in Bollywood anecdotes.
