Kamal’s Witty Chiranjeevi Banter

Kamal Haasan created a buzz at the Telangana Ghaddar Film Awards 2025 ceremony with his sensational and playful remarks, particularly about Chiranjeevi. While receiving the Paidi Jayaraj Award, Kamal Haasan also accepted an award on behalf of Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, who was absent.

In his speech, Kamal Haasan humorously addressed Chiranjeevi, stating, “He is my senior in politics, and my junior in films. We became lead actors in the 70s… and we are still in our 70s now—I’m not talking about films, I’m talking about our age. Sorry, Chiranjeevi garu, I had to tell the truth!” He concluded his playful banter, referring to Chiranjeevi as his brother.

Recalling his long association with Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, Kamal Haasan mentioned their first film together, ‘Sommokadidi Sokokadidi’. He affectionately noted, “Singeetam garu did all the work for that film, but the award came to me. We have been working together for almost 50 years… I like him not just because his name sounds like my father’s name (Srinivasan), but because he is the youngest senior I have seen in my film career. Thank you, CM sir, we are all proud of the honor you have given him. Jayasudha also worked with me in that film.”
