Mumbai, April 1. As the singing reality show, Indian Idol is all set to celebrate 100 years of Raj Kapoor in its upcoming episode with a heartfelt tribute, Bollywood star and the granddaughter of the legendary superstar Karisma Kapoor marked her presence to celebrate the occasion.

The latest promo shared by the host channel featured Karisma Kapoor, who brought both glamour and emotion to the stage.

Reflecting on her grandfather’s deep-rooted passion, Karisma shared, “Thank you Indian Idol. He only loved films, and I think that is something that has come down through the generations.”

Visibly emotional, Karisma highlighted how cinema meant the world to her grandfather and that he lived for it.

Talking about Raj Kapoor, often hailed as the “Showman of Indian cinema,” he left behind a towering legacy through his iconic directorials like Awaara, Shree 420, Sangam, Bobby, and many more.

His influence continues through one of Bollywood’s most prominent film families, with his sons Randhir Kapoor, late Rishi Kapoor and late Rajiv Kapoor, and grandchildren like Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Ranbir Kapoor carrying forward the cinematic legacy across generations.

He was the son of legendary actor Prithviraj Kapoor and the brother of Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor.

Raj Kapoor's Enduring Cinematic Legacy

His daughters-in-law Neetu Singh and Babita were also top actresses of their times.

Raj Kapoor had opposed to the women of his family working in Bollywood.

Neetu Singh and Babita left their soaring careers to get married to Rishi Kapoor and Randhir Kapoor respectively.

This norm was broken by Karisma Kapoor who excelled in Bollywood and was one of the top actresses of her time.

Kareena Kapoor followed suit.Raj Kapoor passed away on June 2, 1988, at the age of 63, after reportedly suffering a severe asthma attack that led to complications including cardiac arrest.
