Tamil serial actress Subhashini, also known as Shashibala (36), tragically died by suicide at her Chennai residence, sending shockwaves through the Tamil television industry. She had married Bibin Chandra in April 2024. Although they had been living in Bengaluru, Subhashini was in Chennai for her shooting commitments. According to preliminary police investigation, Subhashini resided in a rented apartment in Chennai’s Ayyappanthangal area. On Sunday night, an argument reportedly erupted between her and her husband, Bibin Chandra, during a video call. Overwhelmed by distress, she reportedly hanged herself from the fan in her room while the video call was still active. Her husband, who witnessed the tragic incident unfolding during the video call, immediately alerted the apartment security personnel. They, in turn, informed the police, leading to Porur police arriving at the scene. After breaking down the door, they found her deceased. Subhashini’s body has been transferred to Kilpauk Government Hospital for post-mortem examination.
