Laya’s Bold Return: Dominating Unique Crime Comedy

Actress Laya has generated buzz with her recent statement about ‘Sampraadayini Suppini Suddhapusani’, declaring, “I dominated Mangapathi in ‘Sampraadayini Suppini Suddhapusani’!” In this unique role, she portrays Uttara, starring alongside Sivaji in what is described as a crime-comedy family thriller.

Laya, a familiar face to Telugu audiences, is embarking on her second innings in cinema after marriage and children, now carefully selecting meaningful roles. Following classic entertainers like ‘Missamma’, ‘Adirindayya Chandram’, and ‘Tata Birla Madhyalo Laila’, her latest film with Sivaji is ‘Sampraadayini Suppini Suddhapusani’.

This crime-comedy family thriller was produced by hero Sivaji himself under the Sri Sivaji Productions banner, presented by Ricky in association with ETV Win, and directed by Sudheer Sriram. Building on successes such as ‘Little Hearts’ and ‘Raju Weds Rambhaai’, producers Bunny Vas and Vamsi Nandipati are releasing this film in theaters in association with ETV Win. The recently released trailer has significantly raised expectations for the film, which is set to release on March 6th.

Theatrical Journey: From OTT Debate to Big Screen

Speaking about the film, Laya discussed her unique performance as Uttara and her deep affection for the comedy genre. “It’s been almost 20 years since Sivaji and I acted together,” she began. “Initially, when I was approached for this film, I thought it was a family drama. But when I heard it was an out-and-out comedy entertainer, I was very happy as it’s my favorite genre. I love comedy films. This is a film that everyone will connect with, as the comedy genre is enjoyed by all age groups.” She elaborated, “This comedy film contains interesting twists along with thrilling elements. It’s a crime thriller in the dark comedy genre. As soon as I heard the story, I also felt it was unique. I played the character of Uttara in this. To be honest, I haven’t seen myself in such a role until now. This role even excited me. I can proudly say that I played a character that dominates the hero, who himself played a powerful role like Mangapathi. Sivaji encouraged me immensely for that. His love for cinema has grown even more now than it was back then. The scenes Sivaji and I acted in together are hilarious.”

Laya also revealed the film’s journey to its theatrical release. “Actually, when this film was planned, we initially thought it would be for theaters. Unexpectedly, midway through, they said it would stream on OTT. Since I am used to seeing myself on the big screen, I was a bit disappointed when they said OTT. At the same time, all the prominent people who watched this film said it was meant for theatrical release, so it was changed back to theaters. My daughter was also very upset when she heard it was an OTT film. She always wants to see my films on the silver screen. Now that it’s for theaters, she is very happy.”

Expressing confidence in the movie’s wide appeal, Laya stated, “Everyone liked the film’s trailer. The film will also be very entertaining. This is a film that will satisfy audiences of all categories.” This collaboration between Laya and Sivaji is poised to be a distinct comedy entertainer, and it remains to be seen how much it will impress the audience.

Looking Ahead

Laya’s confidence in “Sampraadayini Suppini Suddhapusani” is infectious. This unique crime-comedy thriller with Sivaji is poised to be a distinct entertainer. If it truly satisfies “audiences of all categories” as promised, this ‘suddhapusani’ could very well become the unexpected box office ‘sampraadayini’ of the season!
