Ancestral Charm, Modern Splendor
Kantara hero Rishab Shetty’s house will surely make your head spin! Rishab Shetty, who created a sensation with the film Kantara, is once again in the news, this time for his magnificent new 12-crore rupee bungalow. You’ll be amazed to see the kind of amenities he has set up in this artistic marvel.
Actor and director Rishab Shetty has built this splendid residence close to the seashore in his native village of Kundapura, Udupi district. Reportedly valued at approximately 12 crore rupees, the house offers a beautiful view of the Arabian Sea, nestled amidst nature, with the famous Maravanthe Beach also nearby. Interestingly, the plot of land once belonged to his great-grandfather’s maternal uncle, and Rishab has now designed this home on the same land, incorporating new amenities while preserving its old-world charm. The bungalow is a captivating blend of traditional old-era aesthetics and modern-day comforts.
Guests are welcomed by grand laterite (red stone) steps and massive doors crafted from Burma teak. Near the entrance, a brass temple bell has been installed, lending a divine aura to the house. At its center is an open space (atrium) designed to allow abundant air and light, featuring a 300 kg granite ‘Tulasi Kota’ (a shrine for the holy basil plant). In the four corners of the house, items symbolizing Rishab’s life journey are displayed, including Yakshagana crowns, the gun used in the film ‘Kantara’, and a cricket bat signed by Yuvraj Singh.
Rain Room, Cinema, Folk Car Horns
Some special features within Rishab Shetty’s house are particularly captivating. One is the unique Rain Room, enclosed by glass walls, where pressing a button creates artificial rain. Rishab reportedly cherishes this peaceful space for writing stories and contemplation. Another is a state-of-the-art Screening Room for watching movies, equipped with comfortable Italian leather chairs, a 150-inch screen, and a Dolby Atmos sound system. Notably, the projector in this room is named ‘Selayaraya’, after the deity in ‘Kantara’.
Rishab’s exquisite taste extends to his garage, which houses luxury vehicles such as an Audi Q7, Mahindra Thar, Jeep Compass, and a Royal Enfield bike. A truly unique aspect is that the horns of these vehicles have been tuned to local folk music. Additionally, Rishab’s production office is located near the house, ingeniously built by renovating an old rice mill. This is where he oversees the work for his upcoming films.
